In the mountainous area of the Xintang Work Zone of Kongtian Forest Farm, large patches of golden dog fern are distributed in blocks along the valleys. The golden root stems with their fluffy hairs stand out particularly brightly in the morning light, and the overlapping leaves cover the ground. The patrol personnel, while clearing the surrounding shrubs, measure the root stems and record the growth data. 

t is known that the golden-haired dog fern, as a "living fossil" of plants that originated in the Jurassic period, has a history of over 200 million years. Its densely covered golden long hairs on the roots are not only natural hemostatic medicinal materials but also natural helpers for soil and water conservation. The discovered golden-haired dog ferns amount to nearly 10,000 plants, with vigorous growth and a concentrated block-like distribution. Such a distribution is relatively rare throughout the province and provides an excellent sample for the protection of genetic resources.

The area where the golden dog fern population was discovered is distributed in patches and covers an area of over 150 mu. The oldest individuals in this population have been growing for more than 40 years. Currently, we are strictly following the experts' instructions to carry out the weed removal work, preparing for the establishment of the germplasm resource bank of the golden dog fern in the coming spring. In the future, we will also continue to strengthen the protection and monitoring of this population.

In the Sanba Mountain scenic area, the natural population of the national second-level protected wild plant, the sandalwood tree, is thriving here. The towering sandalwood forests are lush with foliage and have thick, sturdy trunks. The patrol personnel are using measuring tapes to measure the trunk diameters. The discovered sandalwood population covers different growth stages. There are approximately 40 to 60 mature sandalwood trees with diameters exceeding one meter, and there are multiple different varieties. They form a complete ecological community with the surrounding vegetation, which is of great significance for studying the evolution of subtropical forest ecosystems.

The largest diameter of the楠wood discovered this time reached 1.05 meters, and its age is between 140 and 160 years. The population area is approximately 1，600 mu， which is relatively rare in the region. This discovery provides valuable natural samples for researchers to study the population structure， reproductive mechanism， growth pattern and interaction with the surrounding biological communities of the楠wood. 

In recent years, An Yuan has always adhered to the concept of "ecological priority and green development". As a key national ecological function area, it has various types of nature reserves within its territory, with a total area of approximately 39,000 hectares. It includes one national scenic area, one national forest park, one national wetland park, one provincial forest park, and two county-level nature reserves. The well-established protection area system provides a favorable living environment for wild animals and plants.
